The
Singing Experience Newsletter
Cannot thank all of you who were at the MAC Awards on May 6th at BB Kings and supported me by being there, or sending notes and flowers. It was a thrilling evening, especially to be introduced by my friend Danny Aiello and given that wonderful tribute.
He mentioned that I helped inspire and gave him the courage to enter a new phase in his career by getting over his fear of singing, performing now in important club dates at major venues all over the country and Europe and recording top-selling CD's.
I do what I do because I love helping people discover their hidden talents, developing their cabaret acts and gain confidence in who they are through the magic of music Ð but it was nice to be given the recognition and receiving this special MAC Board of Directors Award.
Graduates
of The Singing Experience come from all walks of life and many
have felt that the workshop
has helped them in their every day lives..... from personal relationships
to careers. There are many people who have been able to realize
their dream of singing.....going from the workshop to performing
their own solos shows in cabarets at many popular clubs all over
town. Most of these shows have been written, booked and directed
by Linda Amiel Burns. Below is a small sampling of our grads'
achievements in the past few years.
DANNY AIELLO
brought the house down at The Friar's Club when he sang several
songs in a tribute to Hoagy Carmichael's 100th birthday. Danny came
to The Triad to support the cast of Pocketful Of Dreams when
CBS Sunday Morning was filming for a TV feature. He is now making
a film on the French Riviera and working on an act for Atlantic
City for some time in the future.
SUSAN BAUM began
teaching vocal technique and recently opened her own vocal studio.
Her debut show Taking A Chance was performed at Judy's and
at the Cinegrill in LA. She introduced a new show Oh, How I Love
Cabaret and Sunday's With Susan - and Ray both
at Judy's Chelsea. We've Got Us with Anthony Inneo,
a duet show, has been running at Judy's and received a wonderful
review in Cabaret Scenes from Barbara and Peter Leavey.
TESSA BELL made
her New York cabaret debut at Danny's Skylight Room in a show entitled,
Love Life with John Wallowitch at the piano and was
nominated for a MAC Award for Best Female Debut. She was
a guest artist in Laura Lee Preyer's show at Don't Tell Mama
and has recorded her first CD For You Alone, which is now
available.
JENNIFER CALLAN
Jennifer has performed many shows including, A Little
Bit Off with Ivan Farkas as guest artist and Love
You Madly at Don't Tell Mama. Her February birthday show was
a big hit. Jennifer is moving to San Francisco and will surely become
part of the music scene there.
JOHN ANTHONY CAPOCCI
John made his cabaret debut at Don't Tell Mama in No Matter
What Happens accompanied by Brian Hurley and continues
to perform in Westchester.
HELEN CATALANOTTI
is a great grandmother who has made her first CD, This Is The
Life which is about to be released. Helen proves to all of us
that it is never too late to realize your dreams.
CHANTAL
Chantal explored the theme of love in her debut show at Don't Tell
Mama with John Wallowitch at the piano. Featured were songs
by John and some that were made famous by Mae West. She received
a very favorable review in Cabaret Scenes and will be participating
in the Cabaret Symposium at the O'Neil this summer.
